BAFT-IFSA Re-Elects HSBC’s Gonzalez to Lead Board of Directors at Annual Meeting

BAFT-IFSA announced its newly elected board for the 2014-2015 year at the association’s Global Annual Meeting in London on Jan. 20. The organization also announced that it has officially changed its name to BAFT.

WASHINGTON — BAFT-IFSA, an international financial services association, announced its newly elected board for the 2014-2015 year at the association’s Global Annual Meeting in London on Jan. 20.  The organization also announced that it has officially changed its name to BAFT, the Bankers Association for Finance and Trade.     

Rita Gonzalez, managing director with HSBC USA, was re-elected as board chair for the 2014-2015 year. Gonzalez joined HSBC in 1986 and has undertaken a variety of assignments with the bank including serving as sector head of financial institutions, global trade development solutions, strategic alliances, and debt restructuring. She holds a B.S. in finance and an MBA in finance and international business, both from Seton Hall University, and a diploma in international banking and finance from New York University. She is serving her second term as chair, and has been a leader of BAFT for many years including serving as vice-chair of the association.

"I am honored to be elected again as chair of the board of BAFT, said Gonzalez. “The challenges ahead of us are undiminished and as the voice of the industry, BAFT will continue to play an important role in ensuring standards for global documentation for trade loans, supporting best industry practices on KYC, leading advocacy, and strengthening our global education and training programs.
