BAFT Elects Citi’s Ahearn to Lead Board of Directors at Annual Meeting

WASHINGTON — BAFT, an international financial services association, announced John Ahearn of Citi as the chair of its newly elected board for the 2015-2016 year at the association’s Global Annual Meeting in Miami, Fla.  

John Ahearn, a managing director in Citi’s Transaction Services (CTS) business, is currently responsible for global supply chain and trade finance, including export and agency financing, as well as asset optimization. Prior to joining Citi, Ahearn was with ABN Amro for eight years and was responsible for financial institutions and head of sales globally for the trade business. He also had senior roles at Bank of New York and started his banking career at JP Morgan as a management trainee. Ahearn is also on the board of directors for the Pacific Rim Bankers Association.

"I am proud to serve as the chairman for BAFT especially during this time of significant change in the banking industry,” said Ahearn. “I look forward to continuing the work that Rita Gonzales began. BAFT will continue to be the industry voice with regard to the issues that impact our transactional banking business.”
