BAFT - Africa Council The mission of the Africa Council is to act as the membership’s senior committee responsible for advising BAFT’s executive committee and board of directors on issues affecting members in sub-Saharan Africa. BAFT - Asia Council The mission of the Asia Council is to act as the Asian bank membership’s senior committee responsible for advising BAFT’s executive committee and board of directors on issues affecting Asian members and to bring to the attention of the BAFT executive committee and board of directors issues of specific concern to BAFT’s Asian members and to provide substantive input to BAFT committees and to the board on these issues, particularly as they relate to BAFT’s mission. BAFT - Europe Council The mission of the Europe Council is to act as the European bank membership’s senior committee responsible for advising BAFT’s executive committee and board of directors on issues affecting European members and to bring to the attention of the BAFT executive committee and board of directors issues of specific concern to BAFT’s European members and to provide substantive input to BAFT committees and to the board on these issues, particularly as they relate to BAFT’s mission. BAFT - Future Leaders Council Launched in 2015, BAFT organized a program to support the identification and development of the next generation of leadership in transaction banking. The mission of the BAFT Future Leaders Program is to engage future leaders in solving common industry challenges. The BAFT Future Leaders Council oversees this program. Subject to eligibility. BAFT- Global Payments Industry Council (GPIC) The Global Payments Industry Council sets BAFT’s strategic agenda with respect to global payments and ensures proper alignment of BAFT’s payments committees and working groups. Its current priority issues include interfacing with key regulators around the globe about messaging to maintain transparency, ensuring that the same standards are applied to all entities participating in real-time payments systems, and developing best practices with regard to real-time payments (such as payments origination, on-boarding of entities to the platform, expediting the resolution of exceptions in processing, and effectively leveraging the new technology). BAFT - Global Regional Bank Council This Global Regional Bank Council is open to BAFT member financial institutions with an asset size of $250B USD or less, regardless of geographic location. The goal of the Council is to bring like size banks together to build direct relationships, share best practices, address common problems, and exchange market knowledge. Subject to eligibility. BAFT - Global Trade Industry Council (GTIC) The Global Trade Industry Council (“GTIC”) is the premier body that provides thought leadership for the international trade finance community, driving the dialogue on innovative solutions, exchanging ideas to strengthen the resilience of the industry and developing thought leadership for its members and the industry as a whole. As an influential industry group with a global remit, major stakeholders and policymakers view the GTIC as the vanguard for developing solution-driven initiatives and good practice guidance, as well as a vital source of expertise and leadership. GTIC members are well placed to assess needs and trends in the industry, advance the dialogue for lasting solutions to regulatory and business challenges and set industry priorities as economic, regulatory and technology changes impact how trade is delivered globally. BAFT - Innovation Council This council is designed to bring together financial institutions and fintech companies to provide awareness, education, and guidance with regard to emerging technology impacting the transaction banking industry. The group channels expertise to promote innovation, engage regulators to drive necessary change in the regulatory space in light of evolutions to the business driven by new technological delivery. BAFT - North America Council The mission of the North America Council is to act as the North American bank membership’s senior committee responsible for advising BAFT’s executive committee and board of directors on issues affecting North American members and to bring to the attention of the BAFT executive committee and board of directors issues of specific concern to BAFT’s North American members and to provide substantive input to BAFT committees and to the board on these issues, particularly as they relate to BAFT’s mission. BAFT - Regional Bank Council The BAFT Regional Bank Council offers an opportunity for smaller member banks to discuss issues impacting them in the transaction banking space, including payments and trade. The group discusses industry trends, organizes educational webinars, and hosts in-person meetings to collaborate and network. Conference calls are held on a bi-monthly basis with more than 35 member organizations representative of regional BAFT membership (institutions under $250 billion in assets). In addition, roundtable meetings are also hosted at the BAFT International Trade and North America conferences in November and May, respectively. Past topics of discussion have included FATCA, BPO, Non-STP Payments, the Dodd-Frank Act, RMB Payments, and IACH. Issues which must be addressed more broadly across the industry are coordinated with the BAFT North America Council. BAFT - Transaction Banking Global Leaders Council The Transaction Banking Global Leaders Council focuses on the transaction banking global agenda as well as the evolution of the transaction banking model in the industry. The group discusses ways to expand the dialogue amongst transaction banking leaders around the world, how they can drive the agenda for solutions providers that may seek to develop utilities to serve the industry, and how best to increase the dialogue with the global regulatory community.
