There is little dispute among the Trade industry about the critical need to “electronify” or digitize the trade product suite that still relies far too heavily on manual processing. Nevertheless, the industry has not moved meaningfully in that direction to date. We will focus on the benefits as well as the challenges of increased digitization facing the industry in their efforts to make material progress with digitization of trade products

Consortia Showcase featuring Komgo
Powering Trade Networks - how is Komgo delivering trust and efficiency for the industry?
For years the trade finance industry has been slow to change. The Covid pandemic has accentuated weaknesses in the system. Over-reliance on paper and physical processes does not work well with an increasingly remote workforce and different, incompatible data systems. Modernization, and the resulting efficiency, security and workflow optimization gains, are especially important in light of shrinking margins and increased security risk. Join us to learn how Komgo, one of very few digital trade platforms that is actively used by large financial institutions and corporate clients, is building a network of trust that will change the way the world trades.

The Future of Faster Payments
Domestic RTR's are table stakes in all modernization projects of which a handful are live, many others in development or planning phases, and the rest have not even started. The natural evolution of RTR's is in the cross-border payment space, which will have revolutionary effects on everyone from consumers to multi-national corporates. Trade Technology: Today’s Focuses, Tomorrow’s Promises
The development and deployment of innovative technologies in banking has given rise to new digitization efforts, corporate and bank consortia, solutions for compliance, and promises of more efficient processing in trade. Nevertheless, implementation of these new technologies and the resulting impact have been inconsistent. With this backdrop, CGI and BAFT conducted a survey of BAFT members in the summer of 2020 to obtain market intelligence on the current opportunities and challenges provided by these new technologies. This session will discuss the results of the survey and provide insight on the current state of technological advancement in trade.
