Sold OUT!

Registration is now closed for this sold out event in Stockholm. BAFT will be offering another series of Financial Crime Compliance workshops in 2018 in Europe, MENA, North America and Asia. Please watch out for specific dates and locations.

We are actively looking for hosts for our 2018 workshops. If your institution is interested to host and learn more about this very popular and timely Financial Crime Compliance workshop, you can contact Nancy Monahan at nmonahan@baft.org.

If you are interested to receive alerts on the FCC workshops, please send us an email at events@baft.org.

The BAFT Financial Crime Compliance Workshop is an all-day deeper dive training covering important regulatory requirements and developments in combatting financial crime, with emphasis on governance and accountability, offering Nordic and international perspective, differences and similarities.

Due to its popularity and request of our members, we expanded our 2017 offering by adding Stockholm, Sweden to our roadshow! This special workshop is led by financial crime compliance experts Mr. Andrew Robinson, a partner at Deloitte UK and Ms. Elisabeth Werneman, a partner at Deloitte Sweden. Both have extensive experience in financial crime compliance and risk, and will provide both a Nordic and overall European perspective to the discussions.

Learning Objectives

  • 1. Risk Based Approach to Financial Crime: Understand how a risk based approach informs a financial crime framework, emphasizing the importance of depth of competence – an art as much as a science in order to do this well. Cultural differences in Nordics and internationally in interpretation of risk based approach in practice will be discussed.
  • 2. Governance: Understand the importance of establishing an appropriate governance structure and target operating model. Attendees will understand accountabilities vs responsibilities across the three lines of defense, including the responsibility of the “first line of defense” to identify and mitigate customer risk.
  • 3. Customer Due Diligence: Attendees will understand the regulatory requirements regarding customer identification and due diligence, and recent regulatory developments.
  • 4. Transaction Monitoring: Understand recent regulatory developments in governance and optimization of automated transaction monitoring systems for both AML/CFT and sanctions compliance.
  • 5. Correspondent Banking: Describe current international standards (FATF) and supervisory expectations (Basel Committee on Banking Supervision) for correspondent banking and how correspondents and respondents can meet these expectations in an efficient and cost effective way.
  • 6. Sanctions: Learn about the evolution of economic sanctions programs, which have become more complex over time, and consider controls to mitigate the risk of sanctions breaches.
