Opening Keynote: Tomorrow Has Arrived

Business managers should buy a pair of Facebook’s (Meta’s) Oculus glasses and watch Stranger Things on Netflix.” — Rik Vera

Although the Metaverse started with the gaming industry, we are now seeing it slowly trickle into different industries including banking. With digital currencies being considered and the virtual exchange of goods and services sparking the interest of different stakeholders, some transaction bankers are asking themselves the existential questions of what, why and how to be included in this change, whereas others are still skeptical. Newer and stranger things are happening in the banking industry and bankers need to get ready for it.

The Great Resignation – The Real Impact on the Top and Bottom Line

The past 24 months have brought great disruption to the workplace and it is not slowing down. In addition to changing where they work, many people have changed who they work for. This summer, 4 million Americans quit their jobs and joined the great resignation. People left for better hours, more money and mostly, more flexibility. What is the impact to the top and bottom line, and will this change bring additional opportunity? This panel will explore the new realities of today’s workforce, addressing the impact on the bottom line, the war on talent, and the role employee wellness plays.

Supply Chain Disruption and Its Impact to Trade

Supply chain challenges have been front and center in recent times. From port congestions, the blocked Suez Canal, to labor shortages, and production shut downs leading to inventory shortages. We have seen it all. While some of these factors were already in play pre-COVID, they have become even more of a challenge today. Geopolitical factors as well as inflation add further complexity to the mix. How are corporates and logistic companies dealing with these challenges, and how can banks and financial intermediaries help? What are the new solutions and structural changes being looked at to enable corporates to better navigate supply chain complexities and challenges?
