Thelma Ferguson
Thelma Ferguson
Global Head of Diversity, Opportunity and Inclusion and Vice Chair, Commercial Banking
J.P. Morgan

Thelma Ferguson is the Global Head of Diversity, Opportunity & Inclusion (DOI) and a Vice Chair of Commercial Banking at JPMorganChase. As a 27-year veteran of the Commercial Bank and leading the Global DOI organization since June 2023, Thelma brings an added layer of business acumen to the role, further enabling the firm to run DOI with the same commitment and rigor as other businesses. She reports to the firm’s Chief Operating Officer with dual accountability to the heads of Corporate Banking (CB) and Human Resources — and serves as an Operating Committee member for Consumer & Community Banking (CCB), the Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB), the Office of the CFO, and Human Resources. Throughout her tenure, Thelma has been a key advocate and champion of diversity. In her global role, she drives the firm’s differentiated DOI strategies to uplift employees, clients and the communities we serve. As Vice Chair, Thelma serves as a trusted advisor in promoting Commercial Banking’s efforts and in advancing Diverse-, Women- and Veteran-owned Businesses (DWVOB) — providing access, connections and opportunities to business owners from historically underserved and overlooked communities. Prior to her promotion to Vice Chair, she was an Operating Committee member for Commercial Banking’s Middle Market Banking & Specialized Industries (MMBSI) business, as well as the Northeast Segment Head where she led a team that advised midsize clients in five regions from New England to the Mid-Atlantic. Thelma is a member of the Executive Leadership Council. She sits on the boards of the New York City Ballet and The Women’s Leadership Board of the Women and Public Policy Program at Harvard Kennedy School. In 2022, Thelma was recognized as one of the Top 10 Women of Influence by the New York Business Journal. A native Tennessean, Thelma received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and maintains Series 79, 63 and 24 licenses. She and her husband reside in Bedford, NY.
